Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for a temporary, part-time Economics Instructor position for the Economics Department within the School of Business and Economics.
This faculty position is for the Fall Semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year and may be renewed by semester at the discretion of the Dean of the School of Business & Economics and the School of Trade Technologies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teach a part-time (12 credits) load of college-level courses in the Economics (ECON) Department of the college's School of Business and Economics. In the 2024 Fall Semester, the temporary, part-time Economics instructor will teach four courses: two sections of Personal Finance, one section of Principles of Microeconomics, and one of Principles of Macroeconomics. The Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and the first Personal Finance sections are traditional courses scheduled to meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. The second Personal Finance section is scheduled to meet completely online. There is a strong possibility that the Department will need the temporary, part-time Economics instructor to teach courses in future semesters.
Teach and test skills in a lecture setting.
Teach morning and afternoon courses.
Develop and revise courses and instructional materials.
Provide quality instruction and services to a very diverse student population.
Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and college levels.
Utilize campus technology to stay current in the economics discipline and connect to faculty, staff, and students.
Participate actively in Economics Department and School of Business and Economics meetings, coordination activities, and College-wide committees.
Establish, cultivate, and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with colleagues in the Department, Department academic advisors, administrators, support staff, and all College personnel.
Participate in ongoing professional development activities and professional association memberships.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess or meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field of Economics.
Education Requirement
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to teach Economics courses to a diverse student population, with a minimum of one year of teaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in various modalities, including on-campus, blended/hybrid, fully online, and off-campus.
Proficiency with a Learning Management System such as D2L Brightspace.
Proven understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the communities that they serve.

Salary:
Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023-2025 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
