The Department of Economics in the Robins School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Economics beginning in August 2019. The individual should have a research field in urban or regional economics.

The teaching requirements will be primarily courses in business statistics, econometrics, and data analytics, along with principles and urban/regional economics.

The teaching load is 3-2 and applicants should have at least one year of successful teaching experience.

The Economics Department is located within the Robins School of Business, a nationally ranked undergraduate business program. The department expects excellence in teaching and meaningful research aimed at publication in top-tier scholarly journals. Candidates must be on course for completion of a Ph.D. in Economics by August 2019 and meet the position requirements at the time of selection.

The Health Care Economics position provides analytical support to the Medicare Enterprise and Health Plan Leaders. Using restated financials, you will provide analytic and consultative support evaluating the financial performance and identifying the drivers. Developing strong relationships with Medicare Regional Leadership including Regional Presidents, Health Plan Leaders and Medical Directors, you will present findings to various levels of the Enterprise and Health Plans. Essentially, this position acts a corporate liaison to Health Plans and strategic partner to management. The official title for the job is Prov Contracting/CoC Consultant Sr. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: * Provides Medicare Enterprise financial support in the analysis of medical expenses, medical expense trend, membership, revenue, medical loss ratio, and drill downs reports. * Provides Medicare Business Units and leaders with analysis of revenue and medical costs on a restated basis assisting Regional finance leaders with medical trend analysis and risks (trend anomalies, outliers, behaviors). * Develops and analyzes restated financial reports providing notations of performance deviations and anomalies. * Collaborates and coordinates with associates throughout the company to share ideas including plan cost-savings, opportunities, analysis techniques and models, data issues and general knowledge. * Independently develops sound models and analyses necessary to efficiently measure, understand, monitor and explain the company's medical cost structure and restated financial results. * Validates Health Plan's cost savings initiatives ensuring consistent and established analytical methods and standards. * Support enterprise data platforms through testing, training and coordinating with Decision Support department. * Acts as end-user expert fielding questions from Corporate and Health Plan users. Qualifications for Healthcare Economics Consultant * BS/BA degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. * 7+ years of experience in broad-based analytical, managed care or provider environment. * 5+ years experience in managed healthcare analytics strongly preferred. * 3+ years of experience in Medicare preferred. * Working knowledge of SQL required. * Advanced Excel knowledge required. * Considerable experience in statistical analysis and/or healthcare modeling and reporting.
