We are currently recruiting for an eCommerce Packaging Engineer located in our Support Center (Global Headquarters) located in Irving, TX.
What will you be doing?
The eCommerce Packaging Engineer designs, tests, and implements packaging designs to ensure optimal protective packaging containers for the eCommerce fulfillment operation. They will analyze the design and specifications to determine the required characteristics, special handling, and type of materials required for proper fulfillment out of each node. This individual will develop the standards and guidelines for utilizing proper packaging elements to pack out all types of product with optimal efficiency and asses the cost for the organization's eCommerce fulfillment. They work with internal resources and packaging suppliers to achieve functional packaging goals.
How will you do it?
Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, materials utilized, and performance testing
Serve as a point of contact for Continue Process Improvement (CPI) and cost savings projects, including but not limited to, material reduction, packaging redesigns, SKU consolidation, and automation projects
Conduct onsite eCommerce audits to identify areas of opportunity such as dimensional weight
Troubleshoot new and existing packaging opportunities involving designs, materials, processes and provide creative, timely and cost-effective solutions
Review, monitor, and report out on packaging effectiveness
Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation; evaluate and select packaging suppliers/vendors and periodically conduct vendor reviews
Works closely with suppliers, engineering, eCommerce teams, and operations
Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage
Optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, standardization, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory and internal requirements
Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that packaging exceeds customer specifications
Create and drive a culture of "best in class" operations
Work in coordination with eCommerce teams and Distribution leadership teams to build best practices for entire Supply Chain
Build relationships across the organization

College degree is required, Packaging Engineering, Engineering or Supply Chain preferred
5 + years of experience in eCommerce or consumer packaging
Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge and understanding of packaging design validation standards, drafting, and specification standards is essential.
Knowledge of the various packaging materials and the strengths and weaknesses of each
Packaging engineering experience in eCommerce / distribution setting (retail experience is a plus)
Ability to communicate written and verbally with customers, management, coworkers and present to large and diverse audiences
Able to understand and utilize management reports and plans to conduct business
Experienced Six Sigma Green / Black belt
Proven success in leading people and managing processes and system improvements within multiple sites and/or department
Previous experience in Manhattan WMoS, Red Prairie WMS, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio
High degree of problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to build relationships at various levels and influence decision
Self-starter constantly seeking new projects
Knowledge of sourcing packaging and the general procurement role
Acting as a subject matter expert during the sourcing process and when dealing with team members / suppliers
A graduate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering or manufacturing-related disciplines
Knowledge and understanding of ISTA / ASTM testing protocol
Certified Six Sigma Green / Black Belt
Broad knowledge of multiple packaging materials (i.e. fiber based, polymer based, etc.)
Broad knowledge of multiple industry segments (i.e. eCommerce, retail, CPG, etc.)
Understanding of the cost relationship between the various packaging materials
Advance degree in packaging or business
