Ecology and Sediment Consultant
Ramboll is looking for an entry-level candidate to assist in characterizing the sources, implications, and remedies for pollutants in the sediment of creeks, lakes, rivers, and harbors at locations in North America and elsewhere. As part of the team, apply a range of interdisciplinary tools, such as environmental sampling and analysis, geospatial and statistical analysis, toxicity testing, data management, GIS-mapping, numerical modeling, literature evaluation, oral presentation, and technical writing --consistently employing rigorous science and clear communication. Due to Ramboll's collaborative and interdisciplinary nature, the candidate will also have the opportunity to work on environmental aspects of other projects, including due diligence, land-based site investigations, industrial hygiene, and/or permitting.
A broad technical background is preferable to support clients and marketing activities involving environmental sampling and field surveys, ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment, natural resource management, restoration planning and evaluation of coastal/wetland environments, sediment assessment and planning for environmental remediation and restoration, and environmental impact analysis. The successful candidate must work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams in the preparation of client work products. He/she is expected to be proficient in the analysis and dissemination of information to a variety of audiences. In addition, the following skills are desired:
Strong oral and written communication and analytical skills
Understanding of fundamentals of statistics, experimental design, and data collection, management and analysis
Experience with GIS software; creating maps and conducting geospatial analyses. Experience with scripting languages, mobile GIS applications, and/or custom tool development is a plus
Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and in teams, and ability to learn new skills and procedures quickly. Ability to work under multiple deadlines and flexibility to handle changing priorities. Thoroughness, attention to details, and productivity.
Experience with MS Word, MS Excel and/or Access, and/or statistical software
