Salary 24-25: $78,029.88 (BA/2) - $107,755.54 (MA/10+) based on Salary Schedule Placement

SUMMARY: The ECLIPSE Counselor is a social worker or mental health clinician well-versed in early childhood development. The role of the ECLIPSE counselor is to complete a psychosocial assessment, provide dyadic therapy interventions with parents or caregivers, and help educators to develop approaches in the classroom that meet the child's learning needs. In particular, the clinician will support the caregiving that preschoolers need at home and at school to develop secure attachments and resiliency. This position will include direct clinical time in the classroom and at the family home.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete individual child and family assessment utilizing designated assessment tools.

  • Develop individual care plans with families, staff, and appropriate community partners.

  • Facilitate and/or participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings that may include community providers, district personnel, ECEAP teaching teams, parent/guardians and other professionals or individuals as identified.

  • Provide therapeutic services with identified children and their families at home, in the class setting occasionally in the office.

  • Facilitate work with families, program staff and administrators in the development and adoption of a promotion and prevention framework to be applied at the universal, targeted, and expanded levels of intervention offered by ECLIPSE service.

  • Provide support staff and caregiver training to learn about trauma and its effect on the growing brain.

  • Provide training to support staff in secondary trauma and compassion fatigue as a way to support adults to provide informed care and safe learning environments.

  • Collaborate with ECLIPSE home visitors regarding the treatment plan and their role in supporting families.

  • Provide professional development training and coaching to ECLIPSE home visitors.

  • Complete required documentation and data tracking and maintain records in a confidential database or case file.

  • Participate in reflective supervision.

  • Travel is required to sites in the ESD 123 boundaries.

  • Maintain Confidentiality.

  • Follow all applicable Board policies and procedures.

  • Observe confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

  • Abide by Washington State law as a mandated reporter of child abuse and neglect.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.*
  • Related duties as required are duties that may not be specifically listed in the Position Description but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in health, social and/or human services or related field. Master's degree or higher in counseling or social work preferred.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of social work or mental health experience.

  • Two (2) years early childhood therapeutic experience preferred.

  • Licensed by the Washington State Department of Health as a mental health clinician in good standing.

  • Complete a department background check, pursuant to chapter 110-06 WAC.

  • Provide proof of tuberculosis (TB) testing or treatment pursuant to WAC 110-300-0105(3).

  • Show proof of MMR immunization or proof immunity in accordance RCW RCW 43.216.690.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

WSP/ FBI background clearance required.

  • Infant and early childhood mental health screening and diagnosis (DC:05).

  • Trauma informed care principles and practices.

  • Attachment styles and healthy child development.

  • Evidence based and best practices in early childhood mental health.

Requires the ability to:

  • Travel as required and work some weekends and evenings as needed.

  • Effectively work with diverse populations.

  • Establish collaborative partnerships with multiple community partners.

  • Effectively make sound independent decisions and exercise good clinical judgment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel is required to local school districts and program sites, and for workshops, committee representation and conferences at local, regional, and state level. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
