Inpatient Cardiac Sonographer/Echocardiograph Technician

  • Full Time, Days position in the Cardiac Cath Lab Unit at Lutheran Health Network

  • Lutheran Hospital

  • Sign on bonus eligible up to $35,000!
  • Full Time
  • 40 hours, 10 hour shifts; Hours: 7a-5:30p
  • Call 1x/week and every 6th weekend.

About this unit:

Lutheran Hospital is an accredited chest pain center which includes Level 1 Heart. This designation enhances the level of care for acute cardiovascular patients from outlying hospitals by transferring them directly to Lutheran Hospital's cath lab instead of the ER.

Job Summary:

Under the immediate direction of the Echocardiography Supervisor, performs echocardiograms as ordered by the physician for information to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of a patient's condition in the hospital setting.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Registration/Certification: Current registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or the American Registry of Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers (ARDCS); or by the Cardiology Credentialing Service as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS); or an associate degree in an allied health field and ARDMS/ARDCS/RCS registration within two years.

Must have current CPR and maintain.

Experience: Six months to one year experience in adult echocardiograms; experience with pediatric echocardiograms preferred.

Education: Graduate of an accredited allied health care program Associate Degree.

Job Knowledge & Skills:

  • Requires strong working knowledge of cardiac sonography procedures, including Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Echocardiogram Stress Testing, Dobutamine Echocardiograms, as well as use of contrast media.

  • Must possess understanding of human anatomy, physiology and cardiac/medical terminology. It would take an average new employee approximately one year to learn the full scope of echocardiography.

  • The employee must perceive vascular disease and/or cardiac disease and gain full knowledge of how to recognize an abnormal study on each test performed.

  • Requires general working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served to support the provision of an individualized multidisciplinary plan of care.

  • Requires analytical and organizational skills in order to coordinate staff activities and determine appropriate methods of therapy.

  • Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills in order to establish and maintain positive therapeutic/working relationships with all internal and external unit customers, as needed.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
