The Echocardiology Technologist will complete and/or assist the physician with the ordered diagnostic procedures. The Echo Tech demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession.

The Echocardiology Technologist may handle human blood and other potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials, which may result in possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or harmful elements. This position has the responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and care of the patient in the following age groups: infant, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric. He/she takes direction of the Cardiopulmonary Supervisor and the Medical Director. The Echocardiology Technologist reports to the Department Director.


A.* At least 5 years of experience in Echocardiology, other related cardiology studies and treadmill procedures and is eligible to take the ARDMS examination.

B.* Completion of an AMA approved school of echocardiography preferred or 10 hours of continuing education are required annually.

C.* Current BCLS required (within 30 days of employment).

D.* Must have verbal and written command of the English language.

E.* Possesses the physical abilities to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. See attached physical activities and working conditions.

This role is a vital component of the CHOC Children's Primary Care Network and serves to facilitate high quality, efficient care, enhanced communication with primary and specialty physicians, and improved Urgent Care access to pediatric-specific care. The Pediatrician reports directly to the Executive Medical Director of the CHOC Children's Primary Care Network. Job Duties: * Provides high quality medical services to patients seen in the CHOC Urgent Care. * Provide high standard acute care visits in accordance with the policies of the American Academy of Pediatrics. * May participate in the Medical Education Program as an attending physician to pediatric residents and medical students. * Supervise Nurse Practitioners and other staff as needed. * Partners with clinic operational leadership to improve clinic flow and processes. * Actively participates in quality improvement projects in the clinic. * Demonstrates the ability to work independently and understands the unique nature of Urgent Care flow. * Maintains all safety compliance requirements including annual compliance education, annual TB screening, annual flu program participation and implementing and demonstrating patient safety in all assigned duties. * Demonstrates proficiency in all CHOC Children's iCARE Principles: * Communication and Information Sharing * Accountability * Respect * Excellence * Achieves results, holds self and others accountable for results achieved in alignment with the Mission and Vision of the organization. * Demonstrates critical thinking, questions and challenges the status quo, encourages open exchange of information to gather intelligence, identifies issues and opportunities for system wide improvements. * Demonstrates a commitment to customer service, goes the extra mile to facilitate collaboration and cooperation among diverse groups aimed at improving service and family centered care. Other Duties & Responsibilities: * Participates in regularly scheduled CHOC Medical Group and Urgent Care provider meetings as scheduled. * Keeps knowledge and skills current with new developments in Pediatrics * Full and Part Time Pediatricians - attends one professional conference per year as appropriate.
