Skills and Experience Required:

This role will be responsible to supportmultiple VPI programs by providing robust feature (performance and diagnostic)tuning calibrations and appropriate documentation to demonstrate compliance toapplicable ESWs/technical profiles/related DVP&R tasks.

This posted position will spend majority of timetuning and validating features on program specific hardware/software in testcell/vehicle environment within the program milestones. Furthermore,it is expected to utilize Matlab/Simulink based tools to analyze data anddevelop calibration content as well as to provide clear and detailedpresentations to Manager, Subject Matter Experts and Project Leads.

Additional Skills:

  • ExperienceusingMatlab/Simulink are required for this position.

  • Test Cell and Vehicletesting knowledge is preferred.

This dualapplied science/product systems focused position utilizes the core competenciesof thermal and fluid sciences in the specialized areas of combustion andemissions science, using and advancing analytical and experimental approachesto answer key questions about the performance and architecture of a system orcomponent. This drives decisions and creates technical content which ultimatelyleads to state of the art, highly effective, environmentally friendly, andcompetitive products.

  • Investigates product, system, and/or technologyproblems that are related to thermal and fluid sciences, understands causalmechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution anddocuments results with guidance from more experienced team members.

  • Applies and supports the improvement of processessuch as Pre Program Planning, (PPP), Product Preceding Technology, (PPT), ValuePackage Introduction (VPI), or Value Package Change, (VPC), EngineeringStandard Work, (ESW), Functional Excellence Practice (FEP)s and tools relatedto thermal and fluid sciences such as GT-Power, Fluent, Converge, Concerto,CyberApps (virtual application model), Cummins Data Analysis Tool (CDAT), Mach,test data calculation, DARTS, test data storage, Calterm, Electronic ControlModule (ECM) calibration tool, Emissions data system, Integrity, and ACCEPTSECM in-loop test bench required to support the processes and enable highquality decision making.

  • Obtains input and negotiates with immediate stakeholders,such as team members, technical managers, project leaders, other ThermalScience engineers, product and manufacturing engineers, and supplier partnersand delivers information and recommendations to support project decisions, orto provide input related to further analysis, design optimization, feasibilitystudies, or architecture definition.

  • Makes decisions in the areas of day to dayproject details, such as conducting analysis, testing, and communication withstakeholders that impact and support the successful progression of projects.

  • Owns problem resolution for moderately complexcomponents, products, systems, subsystems or services with a greater degree oftechnical complexity and ambiguity over the entry level engineer level and withgreater accountability to the project team.

  • Provides independent execution of establishedwork processes and systems, while still developing technology or productknowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes.

Education, Licenses,Certifications
