The Habitat Restoration Specialist will support project managers, clients, and Crew Leaders in the planning and implementation of environmental restoration projects. The Habitat Restoration Specialist will also serve as an adviser and mentor to EC crews and volunteer specialists.
This position will work both in the office and out in the field. In this position, one should expect to take on: invasive plant removal, native plant installation, volunteer management, trail work, using an integrated pest management plan, maintaining tools and equipment, purchasing and packing of food. The Field Specialist is supervised by an EarthCorps project manager, and is offered through the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). As such, all applicants must meet the requirements to become an AmeriCorps member and abide by AmeriCorps policies.
Restoration is physically demanding service that takes place outdoors in all weather conditions. Service regularly involves hiking, heavy lifting, & repetitive motions. This may include lifting up to 50 lbs. (22.5 kg), as well as hiking up to 8 mi. (13 km) while carrying 40 lbs. (18 kg) of weight.
