LEAD TEACHER
EARLY HEAD START
FULL-TIME, FULL YEAR, 40 HOURS PER WEEK, NORTH PROVIDENCE
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: Oversee the daily operations of an Early Head Start classroom and to
provide the children with and educational program that is conducive to optimal development.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Be knowledgeable about developmentally appropriate practices and the
Head Start Performance Standards, planning according to the individual needs of each child, completing
education paperwork, conducting developmental assessments, documenting assessment data in the webbased data management system, conducting observations of children daily, encouraging family
engagement in the program, conducting home visits per the Performance Standards, maintaining a safe
and healthy environment, providing Responsive Caregiving to all children and promoting the school
readiness of children and families in the program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree Early Childhood Education (preferred) or Infant/Toddler CDA.
Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards certificate preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be skilled in building positive relationships with children,
families and colleagues. Experience is a must.
