Hourly Rate: minimum salary of $20,653-$26,755 dependent on experience

169 scheduled working days; 4-day school week

Qualifications: Early Childhood Teacher (formerly Group Leader) Qualified by CDHS

A Bachelor or AAS degree in Early Childhood education or documentation of current course enrollment to acquire such degree.

Working experience with children 3 through 6.

REPORTS TO: Early Education Director/Preschool Coordinator

JOB GOAL: To provide a quality preschool experience for all children.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Possess experience that demonstrates a well-grounded philosophy of early childhood education.

  • Be familiar with appropriate early childhood curriculum and standards. Develop daily and weekly learning activities based on children's interests and developmental needs.

  • Possess ability to work cooperatively and positively with team members and administrators.

  • To provide guidance and supervision to the teaching team. Plan, oversee and coordinate with the teaching team an organized and well maintained classroom environment.

  • Work with the teaching team and families to develop an Individual Learning Plan for each child. To continue communication with parents about their child's progress and encourage parental involvement with the school.

  • Provide on-going authentic assessment for all enrolled children. Use this assessment for planning, progress reports, and twice yearly parent teacher conferences.

  • Participate as a member of the Individual Education Plan staffing team, attend staffing addressing the needs of children enrolled in the IDEA part B early childhood program when requested by site director and special education staff.

  • Participate in conferences, in services, workshops, district training and staff meetings.

  • Possess familiarity with current technology and ability to learn programs use in the district.

  • Any additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Early Education Director.

Sterling is located in Logan County in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 13,900, in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the front range (I-25 corridor).

RE-1 Valley School District has two high schools, one middle school, one junior high school, three elementary schools and two preschools and serves approximately 2,200 students in the Sterling and Iliff/Crook areas, employing about 400 staff.
