HOURLY RATE RANGE: $21.24 - $23.95

DESCRIPTION: This position works with children (3 - 5 years old), parents, students and the SMCC community in carrying out developmentally appropriate practices with young children.

Position reports to the Director, Spring Point Children's Center. The successful candidate will communicate daily with parents; plan and prepare meals; provide supervision for work-study and field placement students as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Candidates must possess knowledge of emergency first aid/fire safety procedures and experience working in a group care setting.

Responsibilities include working with a teaching team to create and deliver lesson plans, implement school curriculum, assess the developmental needs of students, maintain a healthy and safe environment, communicate positively with students, parents and staff and the ability to interact continually with preschoolers in a lively, animated environment, both indoors and out. Must be able to pass the state licensing requirements for childcare workers (including SBI and DHHS check). Familiarity with NAEYC standards and accreditation process is a plus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold an Associate's Degree or be working toward earning one in Early Childhood Education or a related field and have work experience in an early childhood setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
