Monitor the educational programming for students and families based on the students' IEPs.
Manage daily schedule including scheduling and attending meetings with families, managing due process paperwork and professional meetings in the building.
Report to the Special Education Supervisor/Director.
Support and guide families and children in 1:1 home visits.
Record notes at each consultation meeting with families to provide recommendations in follow-up meetings.
Jointly plan with families to determine priorities and plan for sessions based off of the plan.
Collaborate and consult with other professionals to gain new knowledge to support families with the primary service provider model.
Plan and embed routines into the daily lives of students and families.
Provide coaching to families which support their students with a disabilities.
Provide follow-up written plans to families and review goals weekly.
Provide individualized educational programs for students based upon needs identified by the diagnosis or determined needs through comprehensive evaluations.
Complete all due process paperwork on time as determined by Minnesota Statute.
Complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
Be focused and concise when working and supporting families in their homes with their children who have significant medical needs.
Be a student and family advocate to ensure alignment to the goals of the district and the ECSE program. (Family Guided Routine Based Instruction/TS Gold/Pyramid Model)
Work in collaboration with colleagues and outside agencies.
Implement best practices and evidence-based strategies.
Attend weekly meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Current Minnesota teaching license in early childhood special education.
Knowledge and experience in the area of early childhood special education.
Ability to provide academic, social, adaptive and inclusive programming and support.
Experience in working with preschool children, particularly those having emotional and behavioral difficulties.
Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
A teacher in this position will work with families in their homes and childcare placements, as well as in an educational setting. The teacher will come in direct contact with parents, caregivers, students, district staff, outside agencies, the public, pets and physical objects that may require a quick response or moving and lifting. Driving a vehicle to and from the home is required.
