PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To provide culturally sensitive and responsible support services to Early Childhood children and families, to act as a liaison for parents regarding programs and services with the Early Childhood Department, and to provide information and resources as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Manage student assignment and transportation information
Explain Early Childhood Department and District policies and procedures relative to student enrollment and transportation.
Maintain timely and accurate enrollment by processing documents and entering data as appropriate on a daily basis.
Recruit, screen, and identify eligible children and families for the Early Childhood Program and special services.
Recruit and refer children and families to programs serving children age birth to five years.
Maintain, update, and disseminate student records as appropriate.
Act as mediator/advocate for families having school-related issues when required. Consult with parents, teachers and other school personnel to determine appropriate actions to impact solutions.
Maintain, update, and organize monthly data requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: The Screening and Placement Specialist will hold a Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or Associates Degree in a related field, equivalent 60 credit hours or equivalent related experience. Applicant must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The qualified candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word. Proficiency with Rockford Public Schools' Sungard System is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Ability to communicate professionally (verbal and written) with parents, colleagues, and community resources is essential. Knowledge of child development prenatal-age 5 is preferred.
Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work. This is a 12 month position.
