Shift Details:

Full-time Mental Health Therapist working within the Early Childhood Learning of Robbinsdale School District supporting the New Hope Early Learning Center as well as Early Learning locations within elementary schools throughout the district. Providers will earn benefits and work full-time during the school year with a possibility of a decrease of 10 hours during the summer, determined annually based on caseload and need from school districts. Full-time employees will remain eligible for benefits year-round, despite hours reduction during summer.

Location: Robbinsdale School District

Compensation: $58,000-$62,000 for clinical trainee - $66,000-$70,000 for licensed professionals

About the job:

Volunteers of America (VOA) is seeking passionate, energetic, culturally humble therapist to be integrated within the Early Learning programs. Therapist will work with clients and their families to support social, emotional, and mental health. Therapist will also provide support and consultation to teachers providing strategies and supports to implement in day-to-day learning environment. Therapist will have smaller caseload size to allow for more intentional care within family system providing individual and family therapy. Early Learning Center staff understand the importance of quality mental health care in their school community and are eager to welcome mental health providers to provide therapy services as an integral component of building safe and supportive learning in schools.

Essentials:

  • Provide comprehensive clinical diagnostic assessment, individual and family psychotherapy, and clinical management to address emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues of students and family.

  • Participate in case consultation and provide input to the multidisciplinary team, representing the disciplines of social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or clinical counseling in the client's treatment plans.

  • Serve as an expert in the mental health of children on the school's team.

  • Complete all related clinical documentation and data reporting for assigned clients in a professional and timely fashion.

  • Willingness to provide in-home therapy when needed.

  • Ability to provide day-to-day outreach in school to teachers regarding the emotional and behavioral needs of students.

  • Ability to provide presentations on topics related to mental health to school staff upon request.

  • Provide in-person services at the school and telemedicine services remotely, shifting between methods as determined by each school's learning model or client preference.

  • Collaborate with other service providers including opportunity to collaborate with internal VOA programs such as case management, high fidelity wraparound, and functional family therapy to provide system wide mental health services to clients and families.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or PsyD/PhD in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or Social Work

  • Working to obtain clinical contact and supervision hours to achieve Mental Health Professional licensure through the corresponding licensing Board requirements.

  • Licensed with a pre-professional license when the corresponding licensing Board requires it.

  • If licensed as Mental Health Practitioner or clinical trainee, must be on track towards independent clinical licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with students and families of color, understanding of the impact of race and poverty upon students and families.

  • Previous clinical work in a school environment or setting

  • Licensed as a LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, or LP

  • Trained in working with early childhood mental health, DC 0-5 training

  • 2 years: Clinical practice serving children and adolescents with ED and SED and their families
