OVERVIEW OF CCA 

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking talented candidates who value and support the college goals of improving student success and retention, increasing attainment rate and transfers, and closing the gap for underrepresented students. The successful candidate is expected to participate in making classroom and work plan decisions, assessing (measuring, collecting, and analyzing) student growth through both department and instructor-based assessments, and to promote and engage in an environment of collaboration, support, and shared leadership of the college, department, and program.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop syllabi and course materials using culturally responsive pedagogy and adult learning theory

  • Teach courses as assigned using a variety of modalities (i.e., online, classroom-based, remote, practicum, and/or hybrid)

  • Teach courses at a variety of times and days (i.e., morning, evening, afternoon, and late night)

  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes Actively participate in college, department and program initiatives (i.e., college-wide and program- specific professional development)

  • Collaborate in the assessment of student learning and the design of the program curriculum

  • Engage in reflective practice and a program study to ensure all students are achieving equally high outcomes, particularly regarding race and ethnicity

  • Design and implement necessary course adjustments to support college, department, and program goals

  • Complete all required instructional professional development activities including orientation and multiple trainings during their first semester

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid CTE postsecondary credential. This credential ensures that the CTE program provides students with well-qualified instructors possessing appropriate occupational and educational experience.

The qualifications and CTE credential eligibility criteria for this position are:

  • Content Knowledge Evidence
  • Master's degree in early childhood education, Education or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate credits in one of the disciplines aforementioned.
  • Occupational Experience
  • 2000 hours within last 7 years of paid and/or unpaid verifiable professional experience (non-teaching) in the field or related field (I-year full time equates to approximately 2000 hours).
  • Ability to teach classes in multiple modalities (i.e., online, face-to-face, and hybrid) Availability to teach evening and/or weekend classes

  • Ability to teach a variety of Early Childhood courses Excellent pedagogical skills and practices Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.

  • Demonstrated willingness to learn about and incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion in instruction.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using D2L, Zoom, WebEx and/or other technological platforms Online teaching experience

  • Experience teaching adult learners PreK-12 teaching experience Availability to teach in the summer Higher Ed. teaching experience

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing new curricular activities that impact student success

Salary: Beginning Fall 2024, the starting rate will be $1,149.00 per credit hour taught.
