General Summary:

This position provides coaching and mentoring to early childhood programs that are privately contracted with ASCC. Coaches are assigned a caseload of child care programs, both center based or family child care home programs throughout the state of Arizona and are required to meet monthly visit and other expectations in an effort to support quality improvement as determined by program assessment results and provider priorities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Attain and maintain in depth knowledge of Environment Rating Scales (ITERS, ECERS, FCCERS), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (Pre-K CLASS, Toddler CLASS, Infant CLASS), and others tools as they are assigned, per the program contract.

  • Generate and maintain an established work schedule, attend meetings, and adapt schedule to meet changing priorities/needs, and utilize time effectively. Maintain tracking and documentation systems. Complete individual programmatic tracking as required.

  • Provide onsite, in person, and virtual (using different virtual platforms including but not limited to ZOOM and Microsoft Teams,) coaching and training to participating programs at the agreed upon contract hours per month as required by the funder using various coaching strategies to meet the needs of the program and attain the participant goals.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of early childhood evaluation and assessment, excellent knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood care and education settings, and a thorough understanding of child development and family dynamics and management in early care and education settings.

  • Assist programs/teachers in the development and implementation of a targeted, specific goal focus area.

  • Provide onsite and/or virtual (using different virtual platforms including but not limited to ZOOM and Microsoft Teams), technical assistance including but not limited to modeling, training, observation, and feedback, data displays and other coaching strategies

  • Develop and facilitate trainings and workshops to participating programs/teachers when appropriate.

  • Write detailed coaching logs following onsite visits noting observations, discussions and recommendations using correct grammar and punctuation. Write monthly and/or quarterly reports as required. Submit all reports in a timely manner.

  • Participate in semi-monthly reflective supervision, through individual and small group meetings.

  • Participate with supervisor in shadow visit and/or feedback sessions for continuous quality improvement and professional development.

  • Co-create professional development plans with a supervisor for continuous professional growth.

  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to respect diversity represented in cultural and linguistic populations served by ASCC.

  • Know and practice the values of ASCC including Excellence, Relentless Pursuit of Challenge, and Humility.

  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Includes the knowledge and ability to maintain confidentiality and high ethical standards.

  • Maintain current knowledge of the early childhood field and research.

  • Maintain eligibility for an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card throughout employment.

  • To meet the agency insurance requirements, a copy of your most recent 39-month Motor Vehicle Record is required to be submitted upon hire. No more than one (1) at-fault accident or two (2) moving violation tickets that are not listed under the major ticket category, as defined by the ASCC insurance company (list available upon request) may be on your 39-month driving record.

  • Knowledge and comfort in the use of computer technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and the Internet.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • The ability to maintain objectivity. Includes the knowledge and ability to maintain confidential information and high ethical standards.

  • The ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Represent ASCC in a professional manner, remaining objective, respecting confidentiality, and diversity of participating sites.

  • Ability to travel throughout the state, have a current and valid Arizona Drivers License, current vehicle insurance, and have reliable transportation, by automobile, available at all times.

  • Ability to lift 15-30 pounds; stoop, bend, and squat to childs eye level for appropriate periods of time; stand for approximately three hours at a time, including being outdoors for extended periods of time; sit for periods of time on the floor; get up and down from the floor without assistance; run after a child if necessary; climb and descend a flight of stairs.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with organization policy.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in early childhood education, child development or a closely related field and/or a Bachelors degree in another field and a minimum of 24 credits in Early Childhood Education.

  • Five years of related work experience as a teacher or primary care provider in an early care and education setting with infants, toddlers or preschoolers.

  • Register with the Arizona Early Childhood Workforce Registry

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of the early childhood field, including center-based and family child care programs.

  • Excellent knowledge of the dynamics of child development, developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive practice, and child-centered approaches.

  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning principles to build sustainable learning with adults.

  • Thorough understanding of child development, family dynamics and management in early care and education settings.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and maintain excellent time management skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of and in early childhood assessment/evaluation tools including: ITERS, ECERS, FCCERS and CLASS assessment tools.

  • Previous experience in and/or knowledge of assessment, training, coaching or mentoring mechanisms.

  • Knowledge of community resources and how they impact early childhood programs.

  • Knowledge of the Arizona Early Learning Standards, Arizona Infant and Toddler Guidelines, ADHS and DES state licensing, certification, adult learning principles and accreditation standards.

  • The ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to the agencys mission in early childhood.

  • Ensure the professional appearance of the office environment is maintained.

  • Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office, Outlook and comfort with technology.

CSR 3 - starting salary $31,080 * Two years of experience within a related motor vehicle program.
