Assistant Teachers will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Classroom Teacher. Assistants shall be able to demonstrate skill and competence necessary to contribute to each childs physical, intellectual, personal, emotional, and social development. These skills include:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED

  • Previous child care experience required

  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise childrens activities.

Upon hire:

  • Medical Release form CFS 602 filled out by physician

  • Must submit to a DCFS background check (Form CFS 718-B)

  • A minimum of 3 written references

  • Register with Gateways to Opportunity

  • Participate in a minimum of 15 clock hours of in-service training per calendar year

  • Complete Mandated Reporter Training, as well as training on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Shaken Baby Syndrome within the first 30 days of employment

  • Certification in Pediatric CPR/First Aid Training Preferred

  • ExcelleRate Illinois Early Childhood Credential Level 1 or higher


Regular Part Time Hourly

Weekday Afternoons; 12:30pm-6:00pm


$10.00-$12.50/hour; Depending upon experience & qualifications
