Position Summary

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor utilizes their expertise to support and counsel individuals through crisis intervention, brief solutions-focused counseling, referrals to treatment or other outside community resources, and ongoing follow-up for ECU Health team members and their eligible family members.

The EAP counselor provides orientations and well-being workshops to team members and their eligible family members. The counselor provides therapy and assessments via face-to-face and/or video conferencing.

The EAP counselor will provide management and leadership consultation and coaching, and other EAP organizational interventions. The counselor is a trusted and compassionate resource for ECU Health leadership and team members throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

Evaluates behavioral health treatment needs of employee or family members who come to the EAP.

Provides crisis intervention and brief outcome based counseling on a wide range of concerns including emotional, psychological, marital, family, substance abuse, stress, legal, financial and other problems.

Knows and maintains good relationships with area behavioral health and wellness resources.

Develops and delivers training programs on behavioral wellness, EAP and Substance Abuse.

Serves as facilitator for group dynamics discussions on areas such as team building and workplace cultural assessments.

Provides psycho-educational programs for hospital staff as part of prevention activities.

Consults with supervisors on behavioral risk issues and referral of employees with performance problems.

Performs pro-active case management on an active caseload of management referral and SATA cases.

Keeps current, complete and confidential records of individual and group activities.

Uses an outgoing personality to market EAP services to both internal and external customers.

Displays strong account management skills in relationship building and program enhancement with customers.

Performs Incident Response by implementing the CARES Approach as a means of offering emotional support in times of crisis. Performs debriefing and psychological first aid sessions.

Conducts Return to Work Evaluations for employees who have been out of work for 3 or more days due to an absence related to a behavioral health issue. This is done prior to final clearance from Occupational Health.

Provides Incident Response and psychological first aid sessions.

Minimum Requirements

Master's Degree, Licensed Major: Psychology, Social Work, MFT or other mental health field

LMFT, LCMHC, LCSW, PhD licensure required.

Provisionally licensed clinician considered. Must become fully licensed within 2 years.

Two to three years' experience in short-term counseling or therapy experience in a clinical mental health; Recommended, not required, to be certified as a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP).

Regional travel to other entities as needed.

Rotating on call as needed.

Other Information

  • First 90 days employee will be expected to be onsite - after 90 days position will be hybrid.
