Position Summary

Engagement and Annual Giving Programs (EAGP) provides meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, service, personal and professional development, and events and programs for alumni (and friends) to enhance loyalty, dedication, and philanthropic support for Washington University.

This position will report to the Director, Marketing & Digital Communications, and will support the team in fulfilling all digital and print marketing collateral to promote the events and programs organized by Engagement and Annual Giving Programs. The role will help ensure that all materials are fulfilled on deadline, on brand, and within budget.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides marketing support including proofreading and editing to ensure adherence to university style and branding guidelines; creating marketing collateral such as slide show presentations, event signage, etc.; photo editing and organization; and more.

  • Provides data analysis and tracking of marketing campaigns and initiatives, including email and texting campaigns. Provides various types of creative/competitive research and benchmarking.

  • Performs administrative responsibilities such as assisting the marketing team with scheduling meetings, budget management, creating and distributing agendas, notetaking, etc.

  • Provides project management assistance and coordination.

  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned. As a member of the Engagement and Annual Giving Programs team, will be asked to support and work occasional events on nights or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience in marketing and/or communications, preferably in higher education or advancement.

  • Experience working in a professional office setting.

  • Knowledge of and proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and standard office equipment.

  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms such as Marketing Cloud or similar.

  • Knowledge of and experience with AP Style.

  • Experience working with printers, mail houses, and other vendors.

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

  • Ability to relate well to other staff, administrators, and external university constituencies.

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and mission of Washington University; must understand the importance of university relationships with alumni, parents, and friends.

  • Passion for and general understanding of integrated marketing communications work.

  • Ability to develop an in-depth understanding of complex programs and partnerships and work proactively to achieve departmental goals.

  • Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Knowledge of (or willingness and ability to learn to use) technology-based tools such as a constituent database (ARCH), Google Analytics, and SharePoint.

  • Ability to listen carefully, learn quickly, and work effectively in a complex organization.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.

  • Excellent proofreading skills.

  • Flexibility to deal with changing priorities.

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

  • Honesty, integrity, and enthusiasm; a very strong work ethic, supported by commitment and follow-through.

  • Well organized and able to complete time-sensitive tasks accurately and quickly.

  • Exercise sound judgment in dealing with competing priorities with little supervision. Must show discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information regarding constituents.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range

$22.92 - $35.49 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
