Facilities Maintenance Technician
The Facilities Maintenance Technician(s) will be based at one of two PAE sites in either Texas or California for some short-term (minimum 30 days) projects. This position is a trade's technical position and will be responsible for facility electrical and related projects to include maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and related Facilities Maintenance work. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will report to the PAE Site Supervisor. Work hours are expected to be 40 hours per week with up to approximately 10 hours of OT. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
Report to supervisor regarding work completed referring unusual technical or personnel issues to the supervisor.
Perform a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate the work of assigned by Supervisor and accomplish a wide variety of duties related to maintenance technician duties.
Construct, rebuild, and repair facilities including various wood and metal structures, equipment, and furniture. Prepare surfaces for painting as required.
Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable building codes, regulations and requirements.
Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work. Properly maintain tools and equipment on a daily basis for a safe working condition.
Perform a variety of skilled building maintenance including repairs to doors, windows, roofs and other building parts; construct or assemble furniture and other wood and metal structures as required.
Maintain various records related to carpentry, material inventories and work orders.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Experience: Ten (10) years' maintenance to include carpentry experience at the Journeyman level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Perform a wide variety of skilled journey-level work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
Interpret, explain, and apply codes, rules, and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities.
Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to others or as required.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Work independently with little to no supervision direction.
Meet schedules and time lines.
Maintain routine department records.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with staff members and others departments.
Operate various types of vehicles to perform duties.
Operation of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques.
Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting general maintenance functions.
Experience providing excellent customer services.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team as well as work independently.
Education: A high school diploma or GED. A vocational diploma in construction or completion of an Apprentice program with a Journeyman certificate.
Licenses and Certifications: Driver's License from Home of Record.
Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.
Additional skills as an electrician/plumber/or generator mechanic are desired but not required. Texas certification for these skills sets is desired
Military experience wearing personnel protective equipment is preferred.
Experience maintaining health facilities a plus.
