JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: This position will serve as the 3rd Party CDL Tester having statewide responsibilities. Instructor responsibilities will be but not limited to training and assisting employees in developing the skills necessary to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) on both the driving range and on the road. Under general supervision, demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques and evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Ensures safety and security requirements are met. Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. Maintains qualifications for employment and follows rules and regulations. Responsible for providing training for employees concerning safety procedures related to CDL's and equipment preventive maintenance techniques. Responsible for the enforcement and compliance of all required policies and procedures and laws. Note: (2) Positions: Statewide Travel required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university * OR Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six months of related experience * OR One year of experience required at a lower level Transportation Tech 4 (TRT053) or position equivalent AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * CDL Examiner Certification and the CCE (Certified Commercial Examiner) Certification Certified * Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License Class * Working knowledge of the guidelines in training and assisting employees in developing the skills necessary to obtain a Commercial Driver's License * Extensive work experience and broad knowledge of maintenance activities * Proven experience and working knowledge with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) * Possess the required level of computer skills necessary for this position * Ability to assist/teach others by guiding and providing constructive feedback * Ability to successfully interact with others to motivate and challenge them * Committed to providing quality customer service * Demonstrated ability to receive and interpret verbal and written instructions * Demonstrates good public relations and interpersonal skills with internal staff, management, and general public * Ability to adapt to changing situations and work plans * Ability to work flexible work schedule * Ability to work in adverse weather conditions * Ability to lift moderately heavy objects * Possess accurate eye-hand coordination * Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, or walk for long periods of time. * Ability to perform manual labor * Ability to be on call 24/7 in the event of emergencies AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A * Ability to visualize the required work and ascertain what materials and equipment are needed to complete the job * Ability to work independently and determine priorities from management and convey information to and from the general public IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL GDOT JOBS The interview is just one part of the overall selection process and is not the only criteria used to make the final selection.
