Purpose

Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Digital Writing and Research Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Manage equipment inventory and insurance. Manage and maintain 5 computer lab classrooms and 2 instructor computer labs. Coordinate maintenance and cleaning, manage facility access, oversee improvements and renovations to the DWRL space, and develop videoconferencing infrastructure. Acts as the liaison with LAITS, facilitating communication and coordination for hardware-related matters, while also overseeing surplus equipment procedures and removal of outdated computers and hardware.

  • Oversee DWRL communication channels, facilitate internal and external communication, manage communication materials, and coordinate promotional activities.

  • Coordinate DWRL budget and accounts, including allocating resources, overseeing budget, purchasing equipment and supplies, finding vendors, keeping accounting logs, and processing payments. Handle purchasing, accounts payable, reimbursements, procard administration, travel, official occasion expense forms, and authorizations for individual/professional services, maintaining detailed records for all.

  • Plan, organize, and run DWRL events including developing promotional materials, planning and managing event logistics, coordinating non-DWRL room bookings, arranging travel and accommodations, managing event finances, communicating with stakeholders, and documenting events. Organize social and networking opportunities.

  • Oversee up to 5 graduate student research projects and 3 Assistant Directors in the Digital Writing and Research Lab (DWRL).

  • Train and supervise graduate students and staff in digital and pedagogy skills.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or high school diploma with at least 5 years of clerical experience. Superior interpersonal skills. Experience providing superior customer service. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with budget management and allocating resources for program. Excellent time-management skills, and attention to detail. Professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Demonstrated expertise working with various populations. Confidence working with Microsoft Excel and Word. Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to learn quickly and work independently. Strong data and account management skills. Experience working in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service. Ability to learn new technology. Strong analytical skills. Ability to participate in strategic planning and research. Ability to facilitate internal and external communication. Flexibility and adaptability to handle other related functions as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in managing equipment inventory and insurance. Experience working with UT students, staff, and faculty. Demonstrated analytical thinking. Demonstrated ability to multitask. Experience with UT Austin systems such as *DEFINE and Workday. Experience planning events. Familiarity with university policies and procedures. Knowledge of educational technologies. Project management skills for supervising research projects.

Salary Range

$52,000 + depending on qualifications

Environmental Demands

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
