FBUSD schools include Redwood Elementary School (grades PreK - 2), Dana Gray Elementary (grades 3 - 5), Fort Bragg Middle School (grade 6 - 8), Fort Bragg High School (grades 9 - 12) and three alternative schools - Noyo High School (continuation), Lighthouse Community Day School (grades 9 - 12) and Shelter Cove Community Day School (grades 4 - 8). FBUSD is nestled on the rugged northern California coastline. Comprised of approximately 1700 students, FBUSD is the second largest school district in Mendocino County.

FBUSD Employment and Salary Schedules https://sites.google.com/fbusd.us/district/employment DEFINITION: To provide psychological services by working directly with students, classroom teachers, support staff, administrators, community agencies, and parents to apply specialized knowledge to ameliorate school-related problems and facilitate learning and development. 205 duty days annually. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Under the supervision of the district administrator, responsible for special programs.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - May include, but are not limited to, the following: Develops and recommends appropriate programs that determine the eligibility of students for particular program placement, including early intervention and special education programs. Serves as case carrier and is responsible for completing and filing all forms for students requiring a 504 plan as assigned by the site administrator.Assesses intellectual and educational characteristics of students, including the administration of individual psychological tests.Administers achievement and intelligence tests and participates with teachers in collecting and synthesizing data for diagnosing psycho-educational difficulties.Provides for psycho-educational assessment and diagnosis of specific learning, emotional, and behavioral disabilities, including, but not limited to, case study evaluation, recommendations for intervention or placement, and periodic reevaluation of students.Provides verbal and written psycho-educational reports which comply with district guidelines regarding individual students.Recommends appropriate educational and psychological intervention for students with unique educational needs.Assists in identifying needed intervention programs, curriculum, and materials.Participates in designated committees involved in program planning, curriculum development, placement, and prescreening.Consults with school administrators regarding appropriate learning objectives for children, planning developmental and remedial programs for pupils in regular and special school programs, and planning and implementing behavior and social school-wide programs.Consults with teachers to develop and implement classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate pupil learning and overcome learning and behavior challenges.Participates on the student study team (SST) and any other intervention team as an active member at sites of assignment.

Summarizes, collects, and presents data to the student study team.Provides appropriate consultative services to assist staff to understand student behavior and learning patterns better. Cooperates with other health and mental health agencies regarding youth concerns and generating solutions or appropriate interventions.Participates in the development and revision of individualized education plans (IEP's) and programs for designated students in special education.Assists as the lead IEP team member in developing behavior support and behavior intervention plans.Serves as the Behavior Intervention Case Manager (BICM) for students who have required such.Assists as the lead IEP team member in conducting manifestation determinations on students requiring such.Assists as an active participant in conducting threat assessments on individual students when appropriate.Serves as the mental health crisis intervention leader for site(s) of assignment.

Provides counseling, intervention strategies, and other therapeutic techniques with students, including parent education.Conferences with parents, teachers, and other appropriate individuals to examine referred students' behavioral and educational strengths.Assists with coordination of services.Recommends and facilitates contact with community agencies and serves as a liaison between school, family, and the agency as appropriate.Collaborates with other district psychologists and counselors to implement consistent practices throughout the district.Demonstrates knowledge of federal and State laws that affect special education through practices and paperwork.Maintains individual testing budget and inventory. Maintains professional competence through attendance at special education staff meetings and staff development training offered by the district, SELPA, and region.Performs other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required and as assigned.

Comments and Other Information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a valid California pupil personnel services credential, or credential equivalent, authorizing services as a school psychologist.

Master's Degree with a major in psychology from an accredited college or university.Computer literate.Ability to Follow Board of Education and district policies, as well as school procedures, rules, and regulations. Demonstrate a concern for student health and safety. Recognize cultural, ethnic, and language variations in the selection and use of appropriate diagnostic tools.

Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to goals and priorities at the school and district level. Accept and fulfill assigned responsibilities and duties in a timely and efficient manner. Produce written reports independently, without the use of a secretary.

Promote a positive professional image by action, communication, and appearance. Communicate effectively in oral and written form. Demonstrate knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, strategies, and trends in educational, social and emotional adjustment assessment functions;Effectively use applicable and appropriate psychological and achievement appraisal instruments, techniques, and procedures;Have a working knowledge of and relationship with social service and youth service agencies in the local area;Understand social, emotional, and behavioral characteristics of pre-school and school age students;Utilize evaluation and research techniques, strategies, and procedures;Have a working knowledge of curriculum and instruction programs proven to be beneficial to pupils with special learning needs.

We pay retroactively. Certificated employees without valid credentials will be required to complete and obtain a permit or waiver from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) before teaching. The CCTC will require a completed application, supporting documents, and a fee.

Human Resources is available to help with this process. Stipends for degrees and DCEC credits are available. Original unopened transcripts or transcripts emailed directly to an HR representative will be required for conferred credits and degrees.
