Job Summary:

Supervised by the Director of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, the Positive Behavior Support Coach provides educational leadership and expertise regarding behavioral support, and social-emotional learning through providing technical assistance, professional development, consulting, and coaching to all students and staff. Specifically, the coach will be responsible for behavioral intervention service for the district's regular education population in a multi-tiered system of support framework and will work hand-in-hand with the Behavior Coach in the Special Education Department. The primary role of the coach position is proactive and preventative so that more children have their social, emotional, and behavioral needs met in the general education classroom. This practice will reduce the number of referrals to Special Education. The Positive Behavior Support Coach will work collaboratively with the Bullitt County Public School leadership within the district and the Safe Schools Department.

Job Duties Include:

Mentoring teachers and leadership in PBIS, Mental Health, and Social-Emotional MTSS framework interventions and support.

  • Serve as a co-coach for the District PBIS program with the Director of Safe Schools

  • Mentor and model leadership with PBIS liaisons and other support staff roles in each school in Bullitt County.

  • Train and support schools in behavioral interventions in Tier 1, 2, and 3 systems.

  • Proactively teach interpersonal life skills in a social context

  • Use data to inform decision-making and the effectiveness of interventions

  • Lead and facilitate the District MTSS team and provide mentoring/guidance to schools that support the development and continuous improvement work for BCPS.

Spend a minimum of 75% of their time working with students, schools, and staff

members providing support.

Provide ongoing consultation/coaching to individual student teams (educators, staff, and

parents) in behavioral analysis, trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches to

education, and other evidence-based practices for students with behavioral challenges.

Work collaboratively with the school social worker, therapists, school psychologist, and

faculty to provide appropriate and preventative support in the least restrictive setting.

Education and Experience:

A minumum of: Master's degree in psychology, mental health, education, or another job-related discipline, plus three (3) years of direct experience in a school or clinical setting. Individuals must be

knowledgeable about behavior analysis programs based on empirical research, including the

direct observation and measurement of behavior, and utilize antecedent stimuli, positive

reinforcement, and other consequences to produce behavior changes. Demonstrates experience in professional development in behavior analysis, mental health, developmental trauma, and other evidence-based interventions for students with developmental trauma, behavior, or mental health conditions.

Certifications and Licenses:

Must hold a teacher certification or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification, a

certified mental health professional, and have leadership experience in Education for at least 5 years.

Terms of Employment:

  • 10 Month / 187 day position.

  • This is for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 School Year.

  • Stipend and 20 Extended Days.

Salary based on board approved salary schedule for the 2024-2025 school year.
