As an Operations Manager/Superintendent at our Baltimore plant, this position is responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations, including safety, production and shipping. This role will ensure goals are established for many areas including safety, quality, productivity, cost leadership, on time delivery, and reviews order and production schedules to determine work force requirements and capacity constraints. This position maintains a continuous review of schedules, processes, procedures, standards and other factors and makes recommendations for changes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and to reduce costs. They will also directs operations through other managers, coordinators and administrators. The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical, problem-solver with the ability to work efficiently and effectively with other functional areas to meet or exceed the customer's quality and delivery requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that machine schedules and staffing are in line with customer and sales expectations including the use of overtime and hiring new employees.

  • Establishes and tracks goals in safety, quality and productivity including internal reworks and downtime.

  • Assists the Area Managers with evaluations, promotions, interactions, disciplines and merit review.

  • Assists the Safety Manager with maintaining and implementing safe work practices, procedures and policies using various tools including BRITE, SFMEAs, Audits, etc.

  • Assists the quality and technical services department with resolving customer and internal quality issues.

  • Assists the Sales and Production Scheduling Managers in meeting critical shipments.

  • Assists the Operations Manager in establishing and tracking limits in ready weight, WIP and raw material storage.

  • Assists Production Coordinators and Process Technician(s) in project planning and problem solving.

  • Works with engineering and maintenance to coordinate projects and outages.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience

  • Strong knowledge of company rules, procedures, goals and philosophy

  • Above average business acumen and technical/process knowledge

  • Working knowledge of TS, ISO and OSHA requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and other related programs

  • Analysis, critical thinking and investigation skills

  • Customer service focused

  • Work independently and interact with all levels of employees

  • Adept at building trusting relationships

  • Self-starter that is adept at taking initiative

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

This position delivers products to customers from Sherwin-Williams paint stores. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Must have a current Medical Examiner's Certificate (ME Certificate) from a Department of Transportation (DOT) licensed "medical examiner" listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry. If you are selected for this position and do not have a current ME Certificate, you must be able to obtain one within five business days of receiving a conditional offer of employment.
