This position is a Deaconess Supplemental Staff (DSS) position, which offers a flexible schedule with a minimum requirement of 48 hours in a 6-week period.

Job Overview: Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). The employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.#PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patients# rights in all aspects of patient care and report#issues to the appropriate person.
The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort.#Assist professional staff with basic life support principles.
The#Surgery Oncology#department#is a 32 bed inpatient adult comprehensive multidisciplinary unit that provides care for general surgery and oncology patients with remote telemetry capabilities.

/Oncology provides pre and post-op care for the surgery patient as well as provides chemotherapy and symptom management for the oncology patient.
, and all patient rooms are private.#Education of treatment is provided for both the patient and the family to provide patient-centered care. Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:
Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire. Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred# Successfully complete#PCT classes as required by care center/unit. # # # #
