DSHS WSH Laboratory Technician / Phlebotomist

Seeking to hire a Laboratory Technician at Western State Hospital Laboratory.  In this role you will be responsible for phlebotomy, patient testing, and all necessary tasks to keep the laboratory functioning as a College of American Pathologists accredited facility.  We value teamwork and dependability.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

On a regular basis, you will

  • Perform phlebotomy routine basis

  • Perform clinical testing in general area of the laboratory

  • Operate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot any minor instrument malfunctions, and perform preventive maintenance

  • Perform clerical duties that support the operation of the laboratory

Who we are looking for

  • Professional with an associate degree from accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program.  College credits in clinical laboratory science may substitute for year to year

  • And a valid WA State Dept. of Health Medical Assistant Phlebotomist certification

Preferred Qualification

  • Certification with American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP MT, MLT, or MLS) or equivalent (e.g., American Medical Technologists)
