The Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) has the opportunity to have you interview resident applicants for job placement, maintain resident vocational and training files including clinical and medical clearance, and manage resident job timesheets. You will regularly tour job stations, trains, evaluates and coaches residents regarding their job performance. You will provide reports and consultation to program area staff, managers, and treatment providers regarding residents' work performance and assist program heads or leads in the completion of performance reviews. Our Adult Training Specialists are key to the success of empowering the lives of the people we serve.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Resident Job Performance Evaluation (Reviews) at least twice monthly, tour all job stations, observe residents' job performance, and offer suggestions for improvements

  • Provide feedback to program area heads regarding residents' work performance

  • Assist program heads or leads as requested, in completion of performance reviews

  • Ensure timely completion and collection of reviews

  • Develop timesheets for newly created positions

  • Review timesheets for appropriate detail accuracy

  • Coordinate final adjustments to timesheets with payroll staff

  • Determine job specifications. position time allotments, special project positions, extra work assignments, and exceptions to existing work schedules

  • Create or revise job descriptions and tailor job announcements based on input from the specific program area heads or leads

What we are looking for:

  • Experience operating a desktop computer using Microsoft software programs, including Outlook and Word

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment

  • Experience supporting residents who are developmentally disabled and may possess a co-occurring disorder of mental illness focusing on the resident's rights and quality of life.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions

Who should apply?

Professionals with a high school diploma or GED and successful completion of fifteen specific, job-related college credit hours, and one of the following:

  • One year of experience as an Adult Training Specialist 1

  • One year of experience as a vocational trainer of persons with disabilities in a community employment program or sheltered workshop

  • One year of experience as a teacher's aide in a special education classroom

  • Two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor

Specific job-related credits:

Five credit hours in 100 level or higher English Composition class

A combination of ten credit hours in two of the following disciplines:

  • 100 or higher level Psychology class
  • 100 or higher level Education/Special Education class
  • 100 or Higher level Human Services class
  • 100 or higher level Computer Science or Math class

NOTE: An Affiliated Counselor Credential must be obtained through the Washington State Department of Health for all Department of Clinical Services staff members who do not have a related license, including the Adult Training Specialist position.
