Residential Rehabilitation Counselor 2
Do you have the ability to quickly build customer relationships? If this sounds like you, we are seeking trailblazers to join our team to work in the Secure Community Transition Facility King County which is a less restrictive alternative community residential program administered by the Special Commitment Center.
As a Residential Rehabilitation Counselor, you will work as part of a team responsible for implementing strategies that contribute to the treatment and rehabilitation of the Secure Community Transition Facility residents. You will be responsible for direct care to transitioning residents as well as encouraging residents to work towards their treatment goals, following policies, procedures and participating in extra-curricular activities. This job is located in downtown Seattle in the SODO business district.
Some of what you'll be doing:
Ensure a therapeutic environment at the facility
Guide residents in meeting their treatment goals
Provide guidance and training residents with living skills
Coach and counsel residents with problem solving
Escort residents to community appointments and activities
Maintain the safety and security of the living environment
Intervene to de-escalate violent or hostile interactions
We are looking for professionals who demonstrate:
Communicate effectively and respectfully with management, peers, visitors and residents.
Ability to provide continuous observation of all resident interactions
Writing accurate and detailed reports
Flexibility to work various schedule
Who should apply?
Professionals with a high school diploma or GED who has two years of experience in the care of psychiatric patients, residents or inmates in behavioral management programs, forensic mental health settings or corrections mental health programs.
NOTE: College level course work in one of the social sciences may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.
