Residential Rehabilitation Counselor 2

Do you have the ability to quickly build customer relationships? If this sounds like you, we are seeking trailblazers to join our team to work in the Secure Community Transition Facility King County which is a less restrictive alternative community residential program administered by the Special Commitment Center.

As a Residential Rehabilitation Counselor, you will work as part of a team responsible for implementing strategies that contribute to the treatment and rehabilitation of the Secure Community Transition Facility residents. You will be responsible for direct care to transitioning residents as well as encouraging residents to work towards their treatment goals, following policies, procedures and participating in extra-curricular activities. This job is located in downtown Seattle in the SODO business district.

Some of what you'll be doing:

  • Ensure a therapeutic environment at the facility

  • Guide residents in meeting their treatment goals

  • Provide guidance and training residents with living skills

  • Coach and counsel residents with problem solving

  • Escort residents to community appointments and activities

  • Maintain the safety and security of the living environment

  • Intervene to de-escalate violent or hostile interactions

We are looking for professionals who demonstrate:

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with management, peers, visitors and residents.

  • Ability to provide continuous observation of all resident interactions

  • Writing accurate and detailed reports

  • Flexibility to work various schedule

  • Modeling behaviors

Who should apply?
Professionals with a high school diploma or GED who has two years of experience in the care of psychiatric patients, residents or inmates in behavioral management programs, forensic mental health settings or corrections mental health programs.

NOTE: College level course work in one of the social sciences may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.

VIEW JOBS 11/13/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-11T00:00 Overview As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), ART, etc. Requirements Required Education/Experience: - Graduate of accredited school of nursing. - Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments. - Per the driver's license requirement noted below, must have a driving record acceptable to Risk Management. Required Credentials: - Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions. Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above. Employees are responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if it is not a requirement of the position. - Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PEARS within 6 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Acute Care Float - Cancer Care Unit - Dialysis - Infusion - Medical Unit - Psychiatric Unit - Rehabilitation Unit - Research nurses working in Cancer Care and CCTR - Surgical Unit - Vascular Access Services - Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 3 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Cardiac Intensive Care Unit - Cath Lab & Special Procedures - Clinical Research Center - Critical Care Float - Emergency Department - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - Pediatric Transport Control - Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab) - Recovery Room (PACU) - Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center) - Urgent Care (all locations) - New graduate nurses in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 6 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Cardiac Intensive Care Unit - Emergency Department - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab) - Recovery Room (PACU) - Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center) - Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain a Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Card from the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) within 6 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Acute Care Float (Nurse Travelers are exempt from this requirement) - Cancer Care Unit - Hematology/Oncology - Infusion - Nurses working in Neonatal Transport Team are required to successfully obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (in addition to PALS) within 3 months of employment.
