Be a part of something new! The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility is being established by Washington state's Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Health Care Authority with generous support from MultiCare and Seattle Children's Hospital.

Within the Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility, you will provide psychological services directly to youth, coordinating, directing, and monitoring assigned programs for an assigned caseload and subject to clinical review by a licensed Psychologist. The facility will open with 12 beds and 108 full-time employees with potential growth to 24 beds and 196+ full-time employees.

The property was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youth.

This new therapeutic facility is slated to open in July to help youth, age 13 and older, with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities who have complex needs such as mental illness or substance use disorder.

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.

Shift: M-F 10:00 am - 6:30 pm

Some of what you will do

  • Develop Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSP) in accordance with Codes of Federal Regulation (CFR) related to regulations, established DSHS, DDA and facility policies and procedures.

  • Psychological evaluation in support of the facility comprehensive function assessment for all individuals at the facility.

  • Conduct functional Assessment of behaviors proposed to become target behaviors for a Positive Behavioral Support Plan.

  • Write Functional assessment as the foundation to the PBSP.

  • Write Positive Behavior Support Plan.

  • Monitor and adjust functional assessments/positive behavior support plans.

  • Setting up, collecting, and monitoring data systems on the effectiveness of Positive Behavioral Support Plans and training plans designed to reduce target behaviors.

  • Observe staff implementing Positive Behavior Support Plan Interventions and training.

Who should apply?

Professionals with:

  • Master's degree in Psychology from an accredited school or department of psychology;

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of computerized communication (Outlook, Word);

  • Working knowledge of data management systems (Excel) to construct, analyze, and interpret graphical displays of behavioral data;

  • Ability to prepare clear, concise reports, evaluations, programs, and recommendations;

  • Ability to maintain records, data, and information in a prescribed confidential manner;

  • Ability to read, interpret and implement policies or rules/regulations of considerable complexity;

  • Working knowledge of the role of medical/psychiatric/nursing and other habilitation disciplines as part of a multidisciplinary treatment;

  • Able to communicate effectively with management, peers' clients, and the public as required fulfilling the assigned duties of the position;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional and working relationships;

  • Ability to obtain the cooperation, understanding, and participation of a broad range of other team members in the development and implementation of psychological services/supports or programs.
