Psychiatric Child Care Counselor 1 - Youth Support Professional  

Join our team as a Youth Support Professional where you can be a mentor for youth and be a part of our new soon to open facility!

The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility is being stood up by Washington state's Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, and Health Care Authority, with generous support from MultiCare and Seattle Children's Hospital.

The facility will open with 12 beds and 108 full-time employees with potential growth to 24 beds and 196+ full-time employees.

The property was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youth.

This new therapeutic facility is slated to open in July to help youth, age 13 and older, who have co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities with complex needs such as behavioral health issues or substance use disorder.

We're hiring for day, evening, and night shifts.

Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.

Some of what you'll do

  • Assist with activities of daily living based on age-appropriate approaches, model evidence-based practices, and provide coaching/teaching for youth

  • Facilitate social skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Manage a caseload of youth and document behaviors and progress towards treatment and care

  • Intervene in crisis situations and use de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies

  • Assist in off-campus therapeutic activities; drive clients to activies and appointments

We're looking for those with

A bachelor's degree with emphasis in Social Sciences, Education, Recreation, Psychology, or related field.

Or

Two years of college with emphasis in Social Sciences, Education, Recreation, Psychology, or related field and two years of social service experience.

Or

Equivalent education/experience.

Desired

  • Ability to directly intervene with disabled persons who may exhibit inappropriate behavior.

  • Ability to complete the Washington State Department of Health Agency Affiliated Counselor credentialing process within 60 days of hire.
