DSHS Food Service Worker
Eastern State Hospital (ESH) is currently seeking on-call Food Service Workers to help provide top quality food for patients. In this role, you will be part of the culinary team that ensures excellent customer service, safety, and quality in food and nutritional services. This job is responsible for the sanitation and cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas and in supporting our mission to Transform Lives.
Some of what you will do:
Responsibility is to serve meals and snacks to the patients on the wards in which they as assigned, ensuring the meal service is compliant with the patients diet order
Clean, wash and sanitize kitchens and dining rooms
Inventory/stock/store/rotate on FIFO weekly and daily foods and supplies
Comply with and monitor food safety regulations ensuring safe meals are provided to patients.
Prepare food items for meal or snack service
Other duties as assigned
What we are looking for:
Professionals with a current Washington State Food Worker Card or ability to obtain Food Worker Card within 14 days of employment
Experience working in a food preparation environment
Knowledge food safety regulations and special diet needs
Ability to operate standard kitchen appliances and equipment
Ability to learn routines involved in preparing and serving food according to therapeutic dietary orders, recipes and menus
Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast paced environment
Ability to read and comply with special diet orders
