DSHS Procurement & Supply Specialist 2
We have an on-site opportunity for you to join our team in Tacoma, WA The job, under general supervision, conducts purchasing projects for specialized commodity areas. Activities include analysis of bids for multi-commodity purchase contracts and/or procurement of products, development of specifications and analysis of bids for products and services. Resolves vendor performance problems.
Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, which requires a minimum of one day in office per week. This may vary depending on business needs.
Some of what you'll do:
Prepares and implements procedures relative to supply functions: as gained through utilization of the DSHS automated procurement system (TRACKS) or inventory management system (ePMX)
Receives, examines and determines needs for and accuracy of requisitioned items
Determines that specifications are adequate for commodities used
Devises evaluation tools to assist clients/customers in selection of alternate products necessary
Conducts research for new sources of supply, locates and contacts vendors and suppliers
Analysis history of performance by suppliers and the quality of goods and services in possible consultation with the customers
Under general supervision, exercises authority to independently make decision with significant fiscal impact
Promotes minority, women and veteran owned business enterprise outreach programs
Prepares and conducts individual and group training sessions
Other duties as assigned
What we're looking for:
Professionals with:
A Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, public administration, procurement, logistics, supply management or a closely allied field:
OR
An Associate of Arts degree in purchasing management, business administration or closely allied field AND two years purchasing experience;
OR
Two years of experience as a Procurement & Supply Specialist 1.
Full-time experience as a purchasing professional will substitute on a year-for-year basis.
