As a Payroll Fiscal Analyst 3,  you will support these missions by handling the state's financial resources professionally, responsibly, ethically, and timely disburse those funds in a manner according to the governing entities overseeing payroll funds. We are looking for permanent and temporary Fiscal Analyst 3s; these are opportunities that support the Department's goals and objectives by developing systems and processes that ensure that every paycheck created will be treated as if it were their own and that the fiscal responsibilities to the State of Washington are met with the highest level of integrity.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Review and approve payroll documents and deduction forms

  • Consult on payroll problems, federal taxes, electronic fund transfers, insurance and other miscellaneous deductions

  • Analyze and execute complex payroll transactions

  • Reconcile agency general ledger and subsidiary accounting records

  • Ensure payroll reports are examined and corrected

  • Process, analyze and reconcile shared leave and other leave activities

  • Establish, monitor, and maintain payroll files for all employees are retained according to agency policy

Who should apply? 

  • Professionals with 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two to three years of relevant professional experience
  • A master's degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager, or Management Accountant may be substituted for professional experience
