DSHS ESA Support Enforcement Technician

The Economic Services Administration (ESA), Division of Child Support (DCS) is currently seeking two temporary Support Enforcement Technicians to join our team in the Headquarters-Central Services office located in Olympia, WA.

As a Support Enforcement Technician (SET), you will utilize multiple computer applications to process child support referrals, post payments to child support cases, and perform research for payment disbursement. You'll perform these tasks while answering calls that come in through the phone line.

Work is assigned weekly but may vary due to volume and frequent reassignments. In order to complete your work accurately and timely you will need critical thinking, attention to detail, and multitasking skills.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Accesses confidential information only for purposes directly associated with the scope of their employment and administration of the program;

  • Views and responds to incoming information, including imaged correspondence mail, electronic messages, and electronic data fed via interface and case reviews in a timely manner. Categorizes and images case file documents for electronic retention. Enters and accurately maintains case data on the electronic Support Enforcement Management System (SEMS).

  • Reviews payments and performs research in SEMS for application to the appropriate non-custodial parent case(s), and contacts employers when additional remittance information is needed. Refers payments to Support Enforcement Officers (SEO) for additional research or manual distribution when needed.

     Processes requests from custodial and non-custodial parents for direct deposit and DCS cards set-up.  Ensures SEMS records accurately reflect the documents received and action taken.

  • Adheres to strict internal controls regarding mail and cash handling, utilizes FMIS to maintain and post receipts accurately to ensure compliance with Federal requirements to process all payments within 24 hours. Folds, seals, routes, and includes appropriate attachments for outgoing mail generated by SEOs.

    Utilizes SEMS to prepare legal documents for certified mailing. Bundles and routes outgoing mail through appropriate channels. Operates complex machinery and programs to image and index documents for electronic retention. Uses knowledge and independent judgment in assigning documents to electronic files.

Who should apply? 

Support Enforcement Technician (SET) positions in Central Services require 10-key proficiency at 125 KPM, and keyboard proficiency at 35 WPM;

AND

Two years of college level coursework;

OR

Two years of customer service related experience within a program and/or services related to research, investigation, auditing, writing, reporting, administration, law enforcement, community relations, or allied field

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute year for year

Please Note: Staff who currently work in the DCS Central Services office that has already met the 10-key and typing requirement, are not required to take an additional test.
