In this role, you will have an opportunity to provide innovative care through recreation and training to residents with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Your caseload will average approximately 18-36 adult clients spanning across life states. Specifically working, as an active member supporting residents within our Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) setting, this is an ideal role to implement recreational alternatives that have a positive impact on our mission to Transform Lives.

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to advertised salary and a free Orca card for transportation use. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. 

Some of what you'll do:

  • Coordinate and oversee implementation of recreational/leisure and day programs utilizing both on and off-campus (community) resources

  • Develop individualized plans of care that meet the needs, interests, preferences, and abilities of each person

  • Coordinate closely with AC Managers and respective IDT's when developing opportunities, establishing schedules, and implementing various activities that may involve driving on both preplanned and spontaneous trips

  • Develop treatment plans that are goal-oriented and directed towards rehabilitation and modification of specific physical, emotional, mental, and/or social behavior

  • Create and implement a recreation activity schedule that includes individualized therapeutic recreation programming, diversion activities, and community integration programs

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in planning, organizing and leading recreation programs

  • Ability to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those you support

  • Strength in developing positive, productive, respectful working relationships with team members and clients

  • Leadership skills that allow you to effectively instruct other staff members

Professionals with the following should apply:

Six (6) year of paid professional recreation experience OR

Equivalent Experience / Education

Recreational therapy includes providing individualized assessments and treatment which are goal-oriented and directed towards rehabilitation and modification of specific physical, emotional, mental, or social behaviors.
