Western State Hospital has an opportunity for you to join an important team that upholds the high standards expected of a large facility that provides evaluation and inpatient treatment for individuals with serious or long-term mental illness. The successful applicant will effectively maintain a clean facility by performing a variety of custodial duties and demonstrating a positive, guest-friendly attitude.

Some of what you'll do

  • Daily care of floors to include; sweeping, wet/dry mopping, buffing, scrubbing, stripping, sealing, waxing, and disinfecting

  • Daily care of all restrooms and bathing facilities, disinfecting and sanitizing of all toilets, urinals, sinks, tubs, and showers

  • Clean and disinfect all furniture to include: beds, nightstands, lockers, chairs, tables, and desks

  • Clean and maintain all custodial equipment, mop buckets, and buffers

  • Keep storage closets properly stocked with supplies

  • Perform safety checks of areas and report hazards

What we're looking for

  • Ability to keep accurate janitorial records and documentation

  • Knowledge of regulations and safety standards governing the cleaning of public facilities

  • Experience with janitorial equipment and cleaning supplies including safety practices relative to the use of cleaning agents

  • Ability to take direction and multitask, including when working independently

  • Familiarity with principles and practices of janitorial maintenance

  • Ability to use power equipment and chemicals

  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail

Our dietitians are responsible for patient education regarding potential food/drug interactions, nutrition, and modified diets. They also represent Nutritional Services in meetings and committees. Some of what you will do: * You will on a regular basis provide nutritional care to assess patients for high risk nutritional issues * Perform assessments, development, and implementation of medical nutritional therapy plans to meet individual patient needs * Recommend/order food or nutritional products that are consistent with community standards * Partner with facility staff to provide nutritional intervention for patients with a variety and multiple medical conditions, substance use/abuse history, as well as mental illnesses * Provide in-service training for Food Service Workers and other hospital staff to ensure food is prepared and served to meet nutrition standards of care and quality. What we are looking for: * Desire to learn and grow * Resilience working with patient population * Experience as a dietitian is desired, but not required * Knowledge of therapeutic diet planning; preparation and serving of special diets; sanitary methods of food handling; standards for low-cost institutional meal preparation; and/or food cost controls are definite pluses.
