King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. 

 Depending on the specific assignment within the hospital your duties may include:

  • Oversee psychosocial clinical programs for approximately 35 patients on one or two inpatient wards.
  • Supervise about four Psychology Associates who will carry a caseload of about 9 patients each, serving as primary therapist for patients on their caseload. 
  • Provide input and clinical guidance for treatment planning and delivery of treatment interventions. 
  • Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, social work, rehabilitation, and other disciplines to coordinate patient care.
  • Lead efforts to maintain a healthy milieu using trauma-informed, patient-centered, culturally sensitive care practices. 
  • Provide psychological assessment and treatment as appropriate.

 What we're looking for:

  • A Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) or Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology (PhD).
  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a license in Washington to practice psychology (either licensed in another state or received approval from the Washington licensing board to take EPPP).
  • Professional experience working with patients with severe mental illness, preferably in an in-patient setting.
  • Knowledge and experience using a variety of behavioral interventions is preferable.
  • Demonstrated ability to form therapeutic relationships with people who have psychiatric disabilities.
  • Ability to provide evidence-based psychological programming, conduct evidenced-based group and individual therapies, apply principles of mental illness recovery, develop effective treatment and behavior plans, provide expert testimony, and establish collegial relationships with multidisciplinary treatment team members.
