Social Service Specialist 5 - Supervisor

This is a specialized social service position within Home and Community Services (HCS) working with clients in residential settings. This role supports the ALTSA mission to transform lives by promoting choice, independence, and safety through innovative services.

This role functions independently as a first-line supervisor of a Social Services Specialist 3 unit located in Lynnwood.

This role is responsible for motivating staff, monitoring workflow, training staff, and ensuring the team is providing the best customer services possible, honoring client choice, and providing Long-Term care services.

Partial telework is an option for this role. Travel is required.

Some of what you'll be doing:

  • Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates staff on performance and adherence to applicable

laws, policies, and procedures governing their job assignments

  • Set expectations for the performance of unit staff and prepare written performance

evaluations

  • Ensures equitable work distribution within the unit

  • Assigns, prioritizes, audits, and reviews work assignments of the social services

specialist

  • Provides ongoing monitoring for performance, takes corrective action as

needed and completes disciplinary actions

  • Evaluate the training needs of staff and provide training and guidance to staff on

program requirement and policy

  • Guide in the areas of time management, organization, case planning, and agency policies and procedures

Who should apply?

One year of experience as a Social Service Specialist 4.

or

Two years of experience as a Social Service Specialist 3 (formerly Social Worker 3).

or

Four years of experience as Social Service Specialist 2 (formerly Social Worker 2).

or

A Master's degree in Social Services, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Law/Justice or an allied field and

four years of paid social service experience equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2.

or

A Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Law/Justice or an allied field and

six years of paid social service experience equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2.

or

10 years of paid social service experience equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2.

NOTE: a two-year master's degree in one of the above fields that included a practicum may be substituted for one year of paid social service experience.
