As a Nurse Surveyor, we need your long-term care knowledge to conduct onsite nursing home visits for state licensure and federal certification surveys. Facilities are located throughout the region and require overnight travel to conduct federal certification surveys and provide stability for residents. Your dedication as a nursing home team member supports our goals of advocacy for vulnerable populations
Some of what you will do
As part of a team, conduct Federal certification surveys by using the Long-Term Care Survey Process, a computer-assisted survey process, and all relevant follow-up surveys
Plan and complete investigations and surveys; interview residents, family members, and community representatives; gather evidence; communicate survey and investigation results
As team coordinator, manage workload including complaint and survey investigations utilizing investigation protocols, completion of written reports, data entry, and tracking of assigned complaints to meet the required timelines
Completion of accurate and timely written investigation reports and documents
Work cooperatively with department staff investigating abuse, neglect, abandonment, and/or misappropriation of client property
Investigation activities including discussions with law enforcement, Medicaid Fraud, Ombudsmen, and other state investigating agencies
Attend and participate in meetings including team evaluation of investigation results and reports and education/training events
Extensive travel with a survey team requiring overnights (may span over two weeks) and may require continuous days of work beyond the normal workweek and normal business hours
Who should apply
Professionals with a valid Washington State License to practice as a Registered Nurse
And a Master's degree in nursing and 2 years of RN experience in a long-term care setting
Or a Bachelor's degree in nursing and 3 years of RN experience in a long-term care setting
Or an Associate's Degree in Nursing/Diploma Nurse and 5 years of RN experience in a long-term care setting
Experience working directly with people in a skilled nursing facility is strongly preferred for this role. This job will require travel throughout Snohomish to Whatcom counties, including Coupeville and Anacortes, to meet business needs. A work schedule of office and remote work is available for this role.
We are looking for
Ability to learn the survey process and complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT); laptop data-entry skills and knowledge of database use
Ability to make critical decisions in high-stress situations based on integration of information from multiple sources that may conflict; proven ability to identify problems and develop and implement solutions
Knowledge of principles and practices of institutional nursing services; public health and professional nursing fields; community organization and resources; organization; administration and supervision; and research and study methods
Ability to remain calm when being confronted, and develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others; ability to effectively communicate with management, peers, residents, and the public; communicate findings to nursing home management orally and in writing in a clear, concise manner
