Social Service Specialist 3
The Aging and Long-Term Support Administration, Home and Community Service division is looking for a number of Adult Protective Services Investigators to join our dedicated team in Kennewick.
In this role, you will investigate reports of abandonment, abuse, exploitation, neglect and self-neglect. Your success will be measured by gathering evidence, conducting timely and thorough investigations, and assisting individuals with services that maintain their safety and dignity. This opportunity may require travel to meet business needs.
Some of what you'll do:
Conduct face-to-face interviews with alleged victims and perpetrators in their residence and in facilities, investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, abandonment, and exploitation
Collect and evaluate relevant information to make decisions related to the investigation, services, and outcomes
Document all pertinent activity for each investigation and record electronically using computer software application systems
Collaborate with law enforcement, judicial entities, families, facilities, local office staff, other regional offices and community agencies/partners regarding client needs
Identify and refer at-risk and vulnerable adults to appropriate service groups
Provide client advocacy, consultation, networking, family support and crisis intervention
Prepare and provide testimony at administrative hearings, court proceedings, criminal, civil and administrative proceedings
What we are looking for:
Twelve months of experience performing investigations
Knowledge of Medicaid terminology, regulations and policies
Analyze and develop workable solutions on a variety of programmatic or critical issues or problems
Knowledge of DSHS database systems such as payment systems and service authorization procedures (MMIS, SSPS, CARE, Barcode and ACES online)
Ability to handle intense and high pressure situations
Professional experience working with vulnerable adults or children assessing risk and determining functional capabilities
Strong critical thinking skills
Ability to work autonomously making decisions, sometimes in immediate safety situations
