Aging and Long-Term Support Administration, Home and Community Services is seeking Adult Protective Services Investigators to join their team in Spokane.
In this role you will investigate reports of abandonment, abuse, exploitation, neglect, and self-neglect. We need you to bring your professional knowledge and skills to advocate for vulnerable adults. Your success will be measured through gathering evidence, conducting objective, timely and thorough investigations, and assisting vulnerable adults with services that maintain their safety and dignity.
Some of what you'll do:
Conduct face-to face interviews with clients in their residence and in facilities, investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, abandonment, and/or exploitation
Conduct interviews with alleged perpetrators
Collect and evaluate relevant information to make decisions related to investigation, services and outcomes
Provide client advocacy, consultation, networking, family support and crisis intervention
Coordinate with law enforcement, judicial entities, families, facilities, local office staff, other regional offices and community agencies/partners regarding needs of clients served
Meet established deadlines regarding visits to clients and other documentation.
Interview collateral contacts to gather additional information
Identify situations presenting risk to vulnerable adults and refer to service groups
Refer to other community resources and internal and external stakeholders
Thoroughly and precisely document all pertinent activity of each investigation into the Adult Protective Services' software system.
Participate in on-going training, meetings and provide community education on Adult Protective Services' programs
What we're looking for:
Knowledge of Medicaid terminology, regulations and policies
Ability to analyze and develop workable solutions on a variety of programmatic issues/problems
Knowledge of Department of Social and Health Services' database systems such as payment systems and service authorization procedures (CARE, Barcode Tiva and ACES online) desired
Ability to organize caseload priorities and assignments to meet workload expectations.
Ability to handle intense and high pressure situations
Who should apply?
Professionals who have the following:
One year of paid experience must include assessing risk and safety to vulnerable adults or children. And
One year as a Social Service Specialist 2 Or
A master's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences or a related field and two years of paid social service experience equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2. A master's degree in one of the above fields that included a practicum will be substituted for one year of paid social service experience Or
A bachelor's degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences or a related field, and three years of paid social service experience performing functions equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2.
