The Maintenance Technician position consists of multi-functional industrial maintenance responsibilities in order to ensure safe and efficient operations at the facility. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for industrial electrical tasks for the Distribution Service Center (DSC) and/or Contract Transportation Services (CTS) business units:

  • Maintains electrical equipment, troubleshooting, wiring and controls, three-phase motors, switches, etc.

  • Performs various duties such as wiring and making connections to new electrical installations, replacing small parts in motors, and repairing electrical fixtures.

  • Makes new installations of fixtures, motors, and other electrical equipment as required

  • Ensures the safe operation of equipment by preventative maintenance and repair by examining machines for defects in operation, replacing defective parts, and making necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation

  • Improves and maintains electric fork trucks and trailers

  • May be required to assist in changing the layout of warehouse facilities by setting up or installing machines and equipment

  • Follows safety and housekeeping guidelines/procedures

  • Ability to be a team player and work rotating shifts, performing tasks independently without supervision

Basic Qualifications:

Must be able to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English

Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must have access to reliable transportation

Must be able to work overtime with or without reasonable accommodation

Must have at least 1 year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, distribution or operations environment

The successful candidate must also pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment

Industrial, electrical or welding certifications, and/or a post-secondary/technical degree

Previous experience with Microsoft Office

Pay Rate/Shift Premium: Starting pay is $24.21 per hour with increases at one year ($26.52), and two years ($28.84) of full time employment.

Key Responsibilities * Uses an RF scanner to determine the proper products to be moved, gathered, or distributed for completing customer orders. * Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets, shelves or conveyor belts based on the necessary route for either the packing station or shipping department. * Operates a riding powered pallet jack and/or forklift to move products efficiently in a productive environment. * Receives processed orders, verifies accuracy of order and scans order into computer system. * Banding product securely to respective pallet using company standards to ensure our customers satisfaction. * Utilizes machinery to shrink wrap products on pallets. * Operates forklift and pallet jack to stage or load products as necessary. * Loads orders safely and efficiently. * Receives merchandise into the warehouse daily upon delivery. * Unloads trucks and verifies inventory. * Record and report discrepancies and/or damages as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned. Competencies and skills * High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. * Must have previous experience operating a gas forklift and electric pallet jack. * Minimum of 1 year experience working in a Warehouse environment required. * Minimum of 1 year experience operating an electric pallet jack required. * Minimum of 1 year experience utilizing an RF Scanner required. * Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis required. * Able to stand, walk, pull and bending 100% of the day on a continuous basis in a fast-paced environment. * Must have organizational and multi-tasking skills in fast-paced environment. * Utilize various types of packing supplies to protect product on pallet for shipping. * Reading and comprehension skills required. * Must possess computer exposure. * Strong initiative and self-motivational skills. * Strong verbal communication skills.
