West Fraser is seeking an experienced Dry End Production Superintendent to join our Augusta Division in Augusta, GA. We have just completed construction on a state of the art climatized planer mill.
The Dry End Production Superintendent will be responsible for safely leading a production team to work injury-free/incident free in a high-volume production plant. The candidate will exemplify our safety values and continuously improve results through operational excellence.
A Day in The Life Typically Includes:
Role model safety expectations and excellence in performance.
Managing 3 direct reports.
Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved.
Ensure all departments operate effectively, efficiently and promote a positive work environment.
Responsible for lumber shipments and responsible for 2 CDK Kilns.
Fully utilize Work Process to develop job plans, track work completion and promote preventive and predictive maintenance.
Facilitate team development and growth and reviewing and managing performance.
Build employee commitment and ownership and hold employees accountable.
Manage day to day activities to meet business commitments.
Build and implement strategies to control cost and continuously improve plant productivity and utilization.
Identify contributions and missed opportunities.
Monitor the quality of work and provide direction to team members to maximize efficiency.
Assist with troubleshooting and solving production issues.
Provide safety training to team members.
Complete data entry and generate reports.
Lead and support Capital Project efforts.
Understand and support compliance with all applicable environmental, federal, state, and local law & regulations.
High School Diploma or GED, 4-year degree preferred
Four (4) or more years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment
Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment
Experience in leading a department or organization in EH&S, Reliability, Production, Cost and Quality Excellence
Experience in analyzing production data to eliminate waste and foster continuous improvement
Must have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other PC-based production reporting systems applications
Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule
Must be able and willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas
Must be able and willing to work safely, and promote safe work practices
Must have experience in employee performance management and change management
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical engineering or a similar discipline
Experience working with Oracle, MDS Lumber Program.
Wood Products experience with any of the following: Planning, Drying, and Shipping
