Energy Circle, a Maine-based company specializing in digital marketing solutions for the energy efficiency community -- HVAC & home performance contractors, green builders, energy auditors, etc. -- seeks a full-time Front End Web Developer.

Energy Circle provides lead generation through digital marketing on an advanced web platform designed & developed for the better building sector. We measure our performance in the success of our clients and their impact on the world: our customers have delivered more than $1 Billion in energy efficiency retrofits since we started. As a culture, were a small, flat organization: youll work directly with our CEO and collaborate with the entire team.

The Front End Web Developer position builds high performance websites using ECs panopoly based distribution. The job includes site building, theming, content migration, and responsive CSS coding. Youll work with our in-house site builders, information architects, digital marketing strategists and content strategists to build responsive sites with best-in-class conversion rates and exceptional UI design. In addition to client site building, the role will also be relied upon to support the EC team with general technical expertise, specific projects such as integrating third party APIs, the development of new features and functionality within the EC distribution, and technical troubleshooting and maintenance of existing sites. Were a committed open source shop working primarily in Drupal and, occasionally, in Wordpress. You will work closely with the design team at our sister company, Puelle Design, and with David Puelle (ex co-founder VIA Agency and Energy Circle Board Member / Partner).

We will consider remote candidates in the New England area.


  • 3-5 years work experience in web development
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Design and Development of website themes using responsive design techniques
  • Deep HTML / CSS skills
  • Ability to write clean organized code
  • Experienced with Version Control (git), SCSS, jQuery, PHP
  • Experience implementing external libraries, JavaScript
  • Familiarity with command line
  • Experience with responsive / mobile website design
  • Excellent collaboration skills and enthusiasm for the web development process
  • Experience creating themes for an open source CMS such as Drupal
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical clients

Responsibilities * Work with Technical Account Managers and Project Managers using Agile methodologies to integrate new clients on to our suite of web-based digital gifting products. This will involve hands on development in both the front and back ends as well as recommending best practices based on the structure of our platforms. * Assist with migration of existing clients to modern versions of our applications. * Support clients and end users with varying levels of technical skill in understanding our systems. * Troubleshoot, debug and help fix issues generated from internal QA and clients in all areas of a modern technology stack. * Collaborate with and Core Software Engineering teams to recommend product enhancements based on client requests and feedback.
