The Office of Public Affairs (OPA) Web Communications Team is looking for a Drupal Front-End Web Developer/Drupal Site Builder responsible for front-end development, theming, and building functional websites. This position requires a combination of theme development skills (PHP, HTML, CSS, JS, etc.) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The incumbent shall have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is strongly preferred. In addition, an understanding of back-end development, web technologies, best practices, how to evaluate contributed modules for stability, and how to configure contributed modules for functionality and performance is required.
Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a new working theme.
Performing Drupal site-building activities including creating and modifying views, layouts, contexts, blocks, etc.
Working closely with back-end developers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure an effective, visually appealing, functional, and intuitive web design.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
Experience with theming Drupal (7 & 8)
Extremely fluent with HTML5/XHTML and CSS
Experience with Sass or other CSS processors
Experience with advanced JS frameworks like React and Angular
Experience developing responsive design websites
High proficiency debugging cross-browser rendering issues
Ability to create the basic structure and functionality of a site by converting comprehensive mockups and wireframes into working Drupal pages
Ability to apply usability standards, responsive web design, and accessibility (508 and/or WCAG) compliance and their implementation into web design
A strong understanding of image optimization, and the pros/cons of svg image use versus png and jpg standards for web design
Experience in researching, evaluating, and configuring Drupal contributed modules
Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies a plus
