Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is recruiting for a DRUM Risk Assessor in Grand Junction, CO.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Defense-Related Uranium Mines (DRUM) Program (Program) is a partnership between DOE, federal land management agencies, and state abandoned mine lands (AML) programs to verify and validate the condition of 2,500 defense-related uranium mines (mines) on federal public lands.

This position will support risk screening to assess whether the mines pose potential risks to human health and the environment.

Requirements

  • B. S. Environmental Science, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, or Toxicology. Masters preferred
  • Experience conducting several risk assessments for chemical and/or radiological constituents. Familiarity with CERCLA risk assessment methodology.
  • Preference is for someone used to working with large data sets for numerous sites including the ability to manipulate large spreadsheets.
  • Excellent Excel skills are required.
  • General environmental experience (e.g., characterization, reclamation) is needed as well as the ability to integrate and understand varied types of information (e.g., chemistry, field conditions).
  • Excellent critical thinking skills are required.
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
