ROLE SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the operation and control of basic packaging equipment and/or production lines. The candidate will be responsible for packaging inspected product and assisting Line Coordinators with additional tasks.

Responsible for monitoring, minor troubleshooting, performing quality level checks, and documenting processing steps for various manufacturing / packaging / inspection equipment. Required to perform and learn basic, repetitive manufacturing or packaging operations. The packaging operator is responsible for ensuring that all safety guidelines and practices are followed.

Documents and monitors manufacturing / packaging / inspection operations in a specific GMP manner. Work is performed in strict compliance with manufacturing standards and all regulatory and safety requirements.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Functional/Technical Knowledge:
    Knowledge of basic discipline. Limited knowledge of industry practices and standards.

  • Discretion, Latitude, Level of Independence: Closely supervised. Follows specific, detailed instructions.

  • Impact and Organizational Contribution: Contributes to the completion of routine tasks.

  • Teamwork/Influence: Contacts are primarily within immediate work group or within normal process-related work flow. Strong interpersonal skill and ability to get along with other colleagues important.

  • Time Span of Work: Daily tasks and deliverables. Results can usually be measured on daily or weekly basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school diploma / general education degree (GED) plus either an Associate's degree or six months' work experience (e.g. current or previous Pfizer colleague; Mfg, Pkg or Veterans/Military relevant experience). Basic math and reading comprehension (meet minimal test requirements); minimal training/experience; comprehend detailed instructions.

  • Experience: Prior Inspection experience preferred, but not required.

  • Mathematical Skills:
    Basic Math Skills Required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical Demands: Job tasks include frequent bending, lifting, and twisting motions.

    Additional demands are line and product specific. Participation in an Ergonomic Stretching Program is required

  • Work Environment: Use of Eye protection, gloves, and other PPE is required based on product requirements.

    Annual vision testing (acuity as well as color blindness testing) is required. No physical or medical restrictions that would prohibit working in a low light and/or confined space work environment. May be required to gown for work in 'clean room'.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Weekend work will be required.

The scope includes a large number of direct reports (~30) of several different job titles. Key accountabilities include day to day management of the shop floor personnel and schedule, ensuring all product is produced in a manner meeting safety and quality requirements. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises employees who are engaged in the production of pharmaceutical or biotechnology products and devices in compliance with good manufacturing practices (cGMP) guidelines, and federal, state, and local regulations. Responsible for effective leadership of work team which includes: managing the daily operation ensuring that applicable safety guidelines and policies are followed; observing that cGMP's are followed, production SOP's are upheld, and production schedules are met. The supervisor will work with the team to define metrics and strategy to achieve results. The supervisor will act as coach and mentor to transform team into a cohesive, harmonized team. Responsible for counseling colleagues to assure proper development for their success, supporting all colleagues to enable them to reach their full potential, and to provide corrective action when necessary. Supervisor/TL is also responsible to ensure timely performance feedback and appraisals for all team members. The supervisor has responsibility to deliver results from a work team that spans two or more shifts. The position will be based on the posted shift, but will be expected to spend sufficient time with the other shifts, and with supervisors and Production Leads on the other shifts, to successfully carry out the job requirements. Successful candidate must demonstrate personal leadership initiative, judgment and accountability in day-to-day work activities in addition to strong planning/organizational skills. Must possess strong communication skills and demonstrate integrity and cooperation in working with diverse colleagues/groups. Strong technical skills desired. QUALIFICATIONS * A minimum of 2 years of related experience and a BS/MS degree in an Engineering or Science discipline required, or 7+ years of related experience in pharmaceutical operations. * Previous leadership experience preferred. * A strong personal motivation and aptitude for coaching, leading and managing individuals and teams. * An aptitude for understanding process technology and equipment, proven leadership ability, decision making ability, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. * Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. * Candidate must possess flexibility to respond to constantly changing conditions and priorities.
