This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape.

The Spectrum Food Coordinator AmeriCorps Member serves in our Drop-In Center, the access point for many clients, which provides basic needs, including food, clothing, hygiene items, shower, & laundry.

Position begins September 9, 2024 and ends August 8, 2025. This position is Full Time: Requires 1,720 hours for an average of 40 hours per week for 47 weeks.

Member will receive a living allowance of $30,000 (pre-tax) and an education award of $7,395 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.

Member Duties : •Plan meals, grocery shop, manage food donations & the Meal Train •Organizes & maintains kitchen; cooks & serves food to youth accessing the drop-in center •Plans and implements healthy cooking, nutrition, & food prep class for youth •Manages kitchen volunteers and strives to increase the number of volunteers & meal donations •Coordinates with staff in the Drop-In space, providing informal counseling, support, and referral services to youth, and collaborates in regular team meeting and group supervision spaces •Plans & engages youth in physically healthy activities (hiking, basketball, etc.) •The member engages youth in harm reduction, and psychoeducation groups, and engages youth in conversations about healthy choices, coping skills and prosocial, sober choices. •Builds community partnerships that maintain food access for youth ages 14-24 •Participate in an Independent Service Project and in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives.
